Philippines’ First Lady explores traditional flower market in Hanoi



The market offers a wide selection of popular flowers for the Tet holiday, the biggest celebration in Vietnam. Some of the flowers available include peach flowers, kumquats, dahlias, violets, gladioluses, and narcissuses.

Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his spouse are on a State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.


Peach blossoms are believed to bring good luck, happiness, and prosperity in the new year.


First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos is delighted to learn about Vietnamese peach blossoms and receives a small branch of peach blossom from the spouse of the Vietnamese President.


The two First Ladies take a stroll along Hang Ma street, which offers a variety of Tet items for home decorations.


The street is beautifully decorated with festive items, especially during the Tet holiday.


Both First Ladies are introduced to the history of Hang Trong folk paintings, a traditional genre of Vietnamese woodcut paintings originating from Hanoi.


They then enjoy sipping tea while listening to stories about traditional Vietnamese houses.

Hanoi’s First Bike-Only Lane Set to Open

The Hanoi Department of Transport has announced that Hanoi will soon have a new 4km long and 4m wide cycle path along the To Lich River. This dedicated bicycle lane, which will pass through the Cau Giay and Dong Da districts, is set to open on February 1, 2024. The purpose of this project is to provide a safe and convenient transportation option for cyclists in the city. The cycle path will connect Lang Station of Cat Linh – Ha Dong Metro Line and No.8 Station of the Nhon-Hanoi Metro Line. The total investment for the project is estimated to be VND65 billion (US$2.64 million). There will be six public bicycle stations along the route, including two major stations at the Transportation University and Lang Station. These stations will provide approximately 100 bicycles and electric bikes to cater to the needs of Hanoi’s residents and students. Vietnamese novel connects two cultures through publication in RoK

The novel was written by Phuong between 2007 and 2010 and published by the Tre (Youth) Publishing House. The publication of this work is part of a project to translate literary works selected by the Korea-Vietnam peace culture federation, which was established by Korean and Vietnamese writers and has been engaged in cultural exchange and collaboration for the past 30 years. At the launching ceremony, Bang Hyun-suk, President of the Korean Literature Association (KLA), said the novel, which was translated into English, Chinese and other languages, is the first work selected for translation and publication in the RoK. Talking to the Vietnam News Agency, Phuong, who is also Vice President of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, said he hopes that his work will help Korean readers understand more about Vietnamese culture, thus strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries.
