Hanoi-Fukuoka Partnership Enhances Relations between Vietnam and Japan

Vietnam-Hanoi Festival in Fukuoka attracts a large number of visitors. Vietnamese woman creates giant ‘non la’ model in Mekong Delta city

Dao Thi Cam Suong, the calligraphy artist behind the sculpture, said that she was inspired by her love for Can Tho, the local culture, and its residents. A ‘non la’ is a traditional Vietnamese conical hat typically made from bamboo and straw. Suong’s giant conical hat took 89 days to transform from idea to reality. The massive ‘non la’ measures eight meters in diameter and six meters tall.
