Vietnam and Cuba Enhance Military and Defense Collaboration
On November 24, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Sen. Lieut. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet received a young officer delegation from the Cuban Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces, led by second chief of the ministry’s Political Directorate General of Brigade Marcelo Perez, according to VNA.
Quyet praised the defense cooperation between the two countries and the achievements of the collaboration between the young military officers of Vietnam and Cuba in recent years.

He assured the guest that the Vietnamese people and army will always stand side by side with and offer all possible support to Cuba, just as Cuba supported Vietnam during its difficult times in the struggle for national liberation and nation building.
He also mentioned that the General Department of Politics of the VPA always supports and creates favorable conditions for young officers from both countries to enhance their exchange and share experiences, making it an annual event to further deepen bilateral defense relations.
Perez expressed his hope that the younger generations of both countries, especially the young officers, would continue to inherit and develop the traditional friendship and special solidarity, thereby further promoting the relations between the Vietnamese and Cuban armies in the future.

On the same day, the Commando Corps organized a welcoming ceremony for the Cuban young officer delegation, as reported by People’s Army Online Newspaper.
The commander of the corps, Major General Hoang Minh Son, expressed his desire that the Commando Corps in particular and the Vietnam People’s Army in general, together with the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, would further strengthen their cooperation through the exchange of delegations and combat training.
During the meeting program, the group visited and observed the officers and soldiers of the Commando Corps demonstrating practical combat techniques at the training ground, including camouflage, shooting techniques, and martial arts.

Meanwhile, from November 18-25, a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense led by Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong paid a working visit to Cuba.
The visit, which was made at the invitation of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, aimed to promote cooperation between the two sides in the field of military and national defense laws, an area where both Vietnam and Cuba have potential and demand.
