Film week to celebrate 80th anniversary of Party's first platform on culture

The ministry assigned the Cinema Department to work closely with departments of culture, sports and tourism of centrally-run cities and provinces and the National Cinema Centre to hold the event.

Accordingly, 10 films will be screened during the week, including four feature movies, four documentaries and two animated films which feature President Ho Chi Minh, the country, people and culture of Vietnam.

In 1943, by applying Marxism and the guidelines of the Party and leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, Party General Secretary Truong Chinh wrote the Outline on Vietnamese Culture (also known as the 1943 Outline on Culture), stressing that the content, nature, organization and development orientation of a cultural revolution can only be associated with the national liberation revolution and a cultural revolution can be realized when the political revolution has succeeded.

The document defined that Vietnamese culture, consisting of ideology, learning, and arts, “will be liberated by the democratic revolution and freed from shackles to catch up with the world’s neo-democratic culture”.

Development of Capital: The Significance of Family Values

Every day, Nguyen Tuyet Nhung patiently waits until 7 p.m. for her children and grandchildren to come home from school and work, and the entire family gathers around the table. Sharing a meal and discussing their day is a tradition that Nhung’s family strives to uphold, even in the absence of her late husband. “In today’s world, my children are either busy or engrossed in their own social interests, and I feel that dinner time is the only opportunity for family interaction,” she expressed, emphasizing the importance of family culture in fostering a civilized society. This concern is also shared by the authorities of Hanoi city. According to Do Dinh Hong, the Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, there is still a prevalence of uncultured behaviors in daily life, and families face challenges in strengthening the connection between family members. The moral standards of Hanoi people and the capital’s family value system are being undermined in today’s society. To address ...
