Overseas Vietnamese Commemorate Lunar New Year Festival in Kuala Lumpur

Hanoi’s First Bike-Only Lane Set to Open

The Hanoi Department of Transport has announced that Hanoi will soon have a new 4km long and 4m wide cycle path along the To Lich River. This dedicated bicycle lane, which will pass through the Cau Giay and Dong Da districts, is set to open on February 1, 2024. The purpose of this project is to provide a safe and convenient transportation option for cyclists in the city. The cycle path will connect Lang Station of Cat Linh – Ha Dong Metro Line and No.8 Station of the Nhon-Hanoi Metro Line. The total investment for the project is estimated to be VND65 billion (US$2.64 million). There will be six public bicycle stations along the route, including two major stations at the Transportation University and Lang Station. These stations will provide approximately 100 bicycles and electric bikes to cater to the needs of Hanoi’s residents and students. The two presidents participated in the “Happy Tet 2024” program to celebrate the lunar New Year festival 2024 (Tet) in Vietnam. The program took place at the Central Sector of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. During the program, President Thuong introduced President Marcos Jr. to the customs and practices of Vietnamese people during the Tet holiday. They also enjoyed special art performances that promote Vietnamese culture with a national identity. The two presidents visited the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, which is a complex of historical vestiges associated with the history of Hanoi. This architectural structure was built by different dynasties during various historical periods and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Vietnam. Norwegian Ambassador Explores Vietnamese Tet at Duong Lam Ancient Village

The Norwegian diplomat is excited to explore the cultural similarities between their country and Vietnam during the New Year holiday, a time for family reunion. Mia Pagoda was constructed during the Tran Dynasty (1225-1406) and still houses numerous ancient artifacts. It has the largest collection of ancient statues in Vietnam, with 287 statues. Duong Lam is renowned for its architectural charm and culinary traditions, making it a must-visit destination for tourists in Hanoi. Tourists often get to taste a local specialty, chè lam cake, in the ancient houses. The cake is made from simple ingredients such as glutinous rice, mung beans, ginger, honey or sugar, and peanuts. It is a popular treat during Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. Exploring the ancient houses and experiencing the old architecture is a fantastic experience for the Norwegian diplomat’s family.
